In order to form a more perfect union of personal and economic liberty, the concepts of libertarian thought must be made relevant to our modern world. This political philosophy must be honed and polished in order to effect real change in a country so diverse in opinion as the United States of America.

It is for this end I am compelled to offer my humble opinion in the pages of MF. I desire to see less government intervention in all aspects of life and believe that we as a political movement must grow beyond our sub-relevant status.

To prevent the perfect from being the enemy of the good, we must accept and defend the American idea that government has some role to play both enumerated in the Constitution and, at times, beyond it when no other scenario is reasonably practical.

Merely the degree to which we allow to the government to hold sway over our lives is in question. Libertarians are not anarchists, we acknowledge the government has duties and only question their number and scale.

And in between the heavy lifting, some fun stuff will appear. There is more to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness than arguing about politics on the Internet. One must enjoy the freedoms they fight for, after all. (Season at Liberty is the food feature series, for example).

In the pages that follow you will find one attempt to create a genuine libertarian news and opinion website, one stab at herding cats. I hope you enjoy what lies within.
